Miss O is 2!

I had the pleasure of photographing this cutie last year and my how she has grown, she is even more adorable than last year, if that is even possible. She was in no mood for pictures but, she really enjoyed exploring the Botanical Gardens and I enjoyed stalking her with my camera. I know that her parents are anxiously awaiting this sneak peek so I won't delay any further.

i really love what i do and it is that much more meaningful when i can share my passion and gift with people that i care about. this family and i have a history that goes back a decade and a half - the dad and I have been friends since high school and mom and I became fast friends after having our toddler girls a month apart, so get used to this cuteness overload as these two will be making many appearances on the blog.

i know that mom and dad have been patiently waiting for their sneak peek, so I will not delay any further. thanks for trusting me to capture these images of your family, i really enjoyed it.

Happy 4th Birthday my sunshine! I can't wait to see what this year brings as you grow taller and smarter. In the past year you've completed your first year of pre-school and your teachers were better than I could have ever imagined, you love them and they love you, and for that I love them. You absolutely love dressing up, make up, games (Zingo and Dominoes), and tea parties. You are a girly girl and it's mostly my fault, but I love it! You also completed your first year of ballet and participated in the recital. I could be partial but I think your class was the best hands down. You love to sing and will sing for anyone at the drop of a dime. Your favorite song to sing is "this little light of mine". You like grouping and lining up your toys and other things. You enjoy writing letters to your family and friends. You think every "bad" word is spelled T-U-B or P-R-S, so when someone says shut up, you say ooh mommy they said t-u-b. You love attention and easily capture the attention of anyone you come in to contact with. On more than one occassion, near strangers have described you as precocious. You are sensitive and sweet. You love all your family members but you loooove your big Nana and auntie Maiya and would probably live with them if it were up to you. You try to wear your bathing suit all day, every day, no matter the season. You enjoy picking flowers. You adore Hello Kitty. You're a dreamer and can often be found twirling around in a tutu and sparkly shoes and singing in your own little world. You are a true princess and I love you so very much, you are everything I thought you'd be and infinitely more. Continue evolving but never lose the innocence, the freedom, the artist, the dancer, the singer, and the dreamer that you are today. God bless you my sweet baby girl.

sneak peek: Miss Berry, Miss Berry

We met at Independence Park for a session and had a blast. Miss Berry was a real trooper and didn't give me any grief about getting in the not-so-comfortable poses that I requested - I love that!
She is so easygoing and beautiful inside and out. You're going to be a great mom. Sorry to post the sneak peek so late, enjoy!

Okay, brace yourself for the sweetest face you've ever seen. According to her parents Miss O was not her usual self but you would never have known it from the way she shined when the shutter clicked. I had an awesome time and look forward to seeing you all again. Enjoy.

Sneak Peek: Sisters

This session was a lot of fun and I even lucked up on a new location to shoot and a cute kid's boutique!
These girls are no strangers to the camera, they came fully prepared, there were several wardrobe changes. It was extremely hard narrowing down for the sneak peek but I hope you enjoy the few I've chosen to post. Thanks again for a great time and some awesome portraits.

i love every ounce of this little girl but as far as features go, i absolutely loooove her eyes!
when i was pregnant i remember praying that she would have her dad's eyes and boy did she get those and everything else, but i digress.
what i love about this picture is how her eyes are the only facial feature totally unobstructed. i love how bright and intense her eyes are, and that she doesn't mind having a snap happy mommy in her face while she's trying to enjoy her candy bracelet. be blessed.

This was another fun shoot. It was early and quite cold outside, but this young man was a trooper (after we got him some hot cocoa, of course). For someone so young his expressions were wise and in the suit he looked very regal. Guys, I hope you enjoy your "2nd" sneak peek.

sneak peek: brother and sisters

Now introducing the sweetest, most well behaved children I've met. They have such a genuine love and respect for one another that reminds me of me and my brother and sister, now, not at their age though :). This was my first time working with 3 siblings but it will not be my last, especially with this bunch. They were so great, flexible, and fun, we all had an awesome time. Mom, I'm sure we have some Christmas card worthy shots here and I hope that you like that they all are in black and white.
Special note to the birthday boy: I'm buying you a cookbook!

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the cutest sisters EVER! They were a joy to work with and the youngest kept us all on our toes. It was obvious that big sister is accustomed to being in front of the camera because she did not have a shy bone in her body. Thanks for a great time Mom and Dad, I cannot wait to meet (and photograph) the newest member of the family when he or she arrives.

Yesterday's shoot was so much fun! We had an awesome time exploring the Art's District; there were so many colors and textures - I absolutely loved it.
As for my model, he could not take a bad picture if he tried to. This session made history for being the most shots I've ever taken! I'm going to have a tough time narrowing it down to a reasonable amount to choose from.

My princess and her crown

This is from an impromptu shoot near my mom's house, this is one of a couple abandoned buildings sure to be torn down soon, I'm not exactly sure what it was before though.
I didn't realize until later how perfectly her dress blended with the location. I love the contrast of the softness of her dress with the ruggedness of the building.
This photo also captures her first professional hairstyle, my mom took her to the salon to have her hair braided about 3 days before this picture was taken. The way the braids frame her head reminds me of a crown, which perfectly suits my princess.
